Policies Overview
At Alpine Bernedoodles, we are committed to the health, safety, and well-being of our puppies and their new families. To ensure clarity and trust, we’ve outlined key policies that apply to every puppy purchase. When you choose an Alpine Bernedoodle, you’ll receive an official copy of these policies upon completing your purchase.
The Seller hereby guarantees to the best of their knowledge said dog is to be in good health at time of sale and has received appropriate vaccinations and deworming for age.
The Buyer agrees to have the dog examined by a licensed veterinarian of your choice, at your expense within 72 hours of receipt of the dog. Proof of initial wellness examination must be provided to Seller after the initial vet visit. This guarantee will be terminated immediately if the dog is not examined within the allotted time.
If the veterinarian determines the puppy to be in ill health with a life threatening illness or genetic defect proven by diagnostic testing the Buyer must notify the Seller immediately. Upon a signed written diagnosis from said licensed veterinarian, the puppy may be returned if this is agreeable to both parties. Buyer will have a choice of either a replacement puppy of equal value from a future litter or full refund of the purchase price not including shipping and medical fees. The Seller will not be responsible for any veterinarian/medical costs at any time which include but not limited to common conditions that are considered minor or correctable such as hernias, infections, parasites, coccidiosis, giardia, cherry eye, viral illnesses or improper bites. Seller does not accept responsibility for contagious diseases diagnosed after 3 days from date of receipt of the puppy. It also does not include any illness due to the ingestion of foreign objects or chemicals.
If this dog is found to have a hereditary defect which impacts clinically on its quality of life excluding dental work, by the age of two years as certified by a licensed veterinarian at Buyers expense, the Seller has the right to require a second opinion from a nominated veterinarian of Sellers choice at the Sellers expense. The Buyer must supply to the Seller a veterinarians report indicating possible hereditary defects within seven days of making the first complaint to the Seller. This report must include MicroChip verification for any major medical issue. Should the dog be found to have Hip Dysplasia within the first two years, Buyer at their expense, must provide Seller with proof in the form of documentation from OFA or PennHIP. A copy of all available reports must be forwarded to the Seller for review by their nominated veterinarian. This guarantee does not include mistreatment of puppy, injury, accidents, poisoning or trauma that could lead to non-genetic hip dysplasia. The dog should not be allowed to become over or underweight and not used in agility or over exercised during their growth period for 24 months during the period of this guarantee. Upon the above requirements having been met, the Seller will replace with a puppy of equal value OR if the Buyer chooses to not to return the dog to the Seller, Seller will reimburse the Buyer for medical expenses up to and not exceeding the purchase price. It is understood that there may not be a replacement dog available at the time of requested replacement. The seller is given twelve months to act upon this guarantee. If the dog is euthanized or in any way disposed of, without a second opinion from the Sellers veterinarian, the Buyer waives all rights to a replacement puppy or to any financial payment as compensation.
The Buyers Responsibility:
The Buyer agrees to feed a premium quality dog food and keep the dog at a healthy weight and have annual veterinary visits and keep all vaccinations current. The Buyer agrees to control the dog on a harness or leash when in public and when off the premises of the dog’s home. The dog’s outdoor area will be fenced in and secure, or acceptable provisions will be made to assure the dog is safe any time he/she is outdoors. The buyer must agree to housing the dog indoors as its primary housing. If the dog is found to be allowed to run freely, running at large, creating a public nuisance, or found to be neglected, abused or allowed to live in poor health or poor conditions the Seller has all rights to repossession of this dog with no refund to the Buyer. The death, injury or loss of said dog due to theft, carelessness, recklessness, abuse, neglect or accident will not entitle the Buyer to any compensation from the Seller.
In the event the Buyer is unable to keep this dog for any reason, the Buyer agrees to offer to the Seller the opportunity to help in rehoming the dog, which must not be destroyed, or relinquished to a pound or shelter. If the dog dies for any reason, a vet report verifying death must be supplied to the Seller. Failure to comply with these provisions will render any guarantee null and void.
The Buyers sole remedy is under the warranty provision of this contract and the Seller will not be liable for any other damages including consequential damages, property damage, emotional distress, loss of use, business interruption or veterinary fees unless specifically set forth in this warranty provision.
Nutritional Requirements:
Our goal is to breed healthy and happy dogs with longevity. A big portion of a healthy pet is nutrition. Poor nutrition and poor quality dog food can be attributed to a number of health as well as dental issues. Our goal is to assure our bernedoodles are given the best nutritional care possible. At Alpine Bernedoodles, we feed Purina Pro Plan exclusively. Purina Pro Plan offers food for all stages of your dogs life. Your puppy will be started on Purina Pro Plan Lamb and Rice Development and you will receive a starter bag upon receipt of your pup. We recommend feeding PP Lamb Puppy until your dog is 1 year of age. At that time, your dog should be transitioned to Purina Pro Plan Adult.
Permanent ownership of this dog is contingent upon your compliance with this Addendum. The Breeder must receive proof of the spay/neuter procedure having been performed no later than your puppy becoming 12 months of age. Proof must be received within fourteen (14) days after completion of the surgery. This notice can be in the form of a Certificate of Spay/Neuter or an invoice from the veterinarian showing the procedure has been completed. In the event the dog’s health does not allow this agreement to be honored, Breeder must be provided with a statement from your veterinarian that this dog is not yet in physical or emotional condition for surgery. Based upon the veterinarian’s evaluation of this dog the Buyer will contact the veterinarian and establish the earliest date that the procedure can be performed. The Buyer will notify the Breeder of this amendment in writing, at which time all other conditions of this contract will apply and be enforced.
It is the responsibility of the Buyer, not the veterinarian, to ensure that the Breeder has received verification that the surgery has been performed. Failure to comply with this contract by the date below, unless otherwise agreed to in writing, will be considered a breach of the Contract. The Purchaser will be liable for $20,000.00. In addition, it will result in the Health Guarantee being null and void.
By signing below, I the Buyer agree to have this dog spayed/neutered by no later than ____, and I understand that this contract is an agreement that this dog will not produce a litter of puppies either as purposely bred or by accidental breeding. If a pregnancy occurs whether purposely or accidentally, the Buyer agrees to pay the additional cost for a breeding dog, which is $20,000.00.
The health of our breeding dogs is the first thing of importance for insuring happy and healthy puppies. Our dogs share our home and live with us as family members on our 12-acre ranch. To expand our breeding program, some of our dogs are in loving guardian homes. This ensures that all of our dogs have a normal family life with love, attention and companionship.
Before mothers are due to give birth, they settle into our Nursery Barn. It gives the moms a safe, quiet place away from our other dogs where they can have privacy and stay calm and relaxed. The nursery barn has all the conveniences of home where I stay before, during and after whelping to insure that mom and babies are doing well. The barn is equipped with an apartment, reception area, grooming facility and laundry. The building is fully monitored with cameras for watching from any location as well as security to ensure the safety of our dogs. The nursery is a climate controlled, fully sanitary area where our puppies can thrive and play no matter what the weather. Health is our main priority and the puppy nursery allows us to ensure that our puppies are consistently surrounded by a clean, safe and comfortable environment. The nursery barn includes indoor and outdoor play and training areas as well as a large outdoor play field to run, romp and play so moms can get plenty of exercise in between caring for their babies. We have installed an ERV Ventilation System that provides the Nursery Barn with healthy indoor air quality. This system regularly exchanges and provides clean fresh air to greatly minimize the dogs exposure to humidity, dust, odors, and other indoor pollutants while maintaining a controlled temperature for mom and babies.
Visitation Policies
Deposit holders: Families that are currently on the deposit wait list may schedule a visit prior to picking up their puppy. This must be scheduled in advance.
Those not currently on a wait list: The health of our dogs and puppies is important to us so we take every precaution to protect them. We are often asked why we don’t allow people to visit our facility. This is not surprising given the number of “what to do” websites that advocate for visiting the breeder and meeting the pups parents first. The problem with these websites is their priority is the buyer, not the pups or breeders health and safety. Please remember that our facility is our home. We ask that you “visit” us online rather than in person, look at photos of current and previous litters and read our website testimonials and comments on Facebook to learn more about us. Thank you for helping us protect the health of our puppies.
The following are some if the reasons we don’t allow visits from families that have not placed a deposit.
1. Young pups don’t have fully developed immune systems and are susceptible to life threatening illnesses. Unsuspecting visitors can carry germs on clothing, shoes and even car tires and bring diseases and parasites including parvovirus, distemper, giardia etc. with them when visiting pups, the results can be the death of the entire litter.
2. Stressed out Moms create stressed out pups. A new mother is emotionally charged and in hyper protective mode. When a stranger comes to visit, Mom becomes stressed causing her body to create cortisol which goes into the milk. The puppies consume this cortisol rich milk and become stressed themselves.
3. Panicked Moms hurt pups. When a stranger comes to visit Moms state of mind changes rapidly. She feels threaten and moves quickly to assess the threat. Moms can unintentionally step on or crush a pup in their urgency to get out of the whelping box to access the threat.
4. I don’t “own” the pups. All the pups are sold to families and I am simply the guardian. I have been entrusted with the care of their pups for the first critical weeks of their lives. As the guardian of other peoples dogs, I must do everything I can to protect them. If one of the puppies was yours, I’m certain you would expect me to do the same for your pup.
